Who Should Attend?
The course is designed for:
- Newcomers to the subject of business continuity, those wanting to start a career in business continuity, and for those for whom business continuity may be a part of their role or responsibilities who need to have a good understanding of the subject.
- Individuals not yet ready to enroll on the Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) training and examination.
Course Objectives
The objectives of this training course are to provide students with the capability to:
- Describe the BCM Lifecycle and explain how this creates a robust BCMS program.
- Explain the importance of BC Policy and Program Management and how leadership styles affect the design, delivery, benefits, and effectiveness of a BCM program.
- Describe how to identify prioritized activities, the function of the Business Impact Analysis (BIA), and methodologies for collecting BIA information.
- Explain the importance of Risk Analysis and Threat Assessment methodologies for integrating the BCM program within the organization’s Risk Management framework.
- Describe the component parts of a BC Plan and identify and differentiate between good practice and inadequate plan design.
- Describe the hierarchical structure of a BCM program, including the Crisis Management Plan, Incident Management Plan, BC Plan, and other overarching plans, and how they integrate and support each other.
- Describe the elements of a comprehensive BCM Embedding Program, including training, awareness, and culture, and how to integrate these with key departments to ensure an effective BCM program.
- Describe how to design and facilitate exercises.
- Understand the key BC roles and responsibilities.
The course covers the six stages of the BCM Lifecycle and is based on global good practice as described in the Business Continuity Institute’s Good Practice Guidelines 2018 Edition and the international standard for Business Continuity, ISO 22301:2019.
Course Accreditation
All students will receive an official Certificate of Attendance from the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) and 8 CPE/CPD credits.

Course fees include the applicable BCI royalty fees and learning materials.
BCI course pricing is determined using data from the World Bank and may vary depending on the participant’s country of residence or the company’s country of registration.
